Book Vending Machines
The Gaylord Chapter has been blessed with winning a few grants along with donations from our golf outing to be able to start providing book vending machines to elementary schools in our area. The first was placed at South Maple school in Gaylord. Because it was such a great addition to the school for children to enhance their literacy skills, it also is promoting kindness, hard work, and good citizenship. Each child will receive a token when he or she is showing these attributes throughout the school year. We have partnered with the Nick Mazur Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Gaylord, Otsego County Child Welfare Alliance, and Otsego County Community Foundation to help provide funding to stock the vending machine yearly. It has now grown to where the Gaylord Chapter has provided a total of 4 vending machine in the schools of not only South Maple, but Gaylord North Ohio school, Gaylord St. Mary’s school, and Johannesburg Elementary school. Our goal is to reach out to our area schools and provide one for any elementary school willing to participate in our Post area. Thank you again for the donations, grants, and sponsors for helping us provide these to our children.
